who we are
Our Story
Siraat Community grew out of a desire to connect as Muslim families following the intense period of isolation the world experienced during the 2020 pandemic. We began by curating halaqa gatherings at the homes of families and friends in 2021, hoping to both highlight local imams and speakers (both men and women) and provide programming that catered to Muslims of all generations and backgrounds. As we connected communities across Orlando, these gatherings also became a space for our youth, with their many talents, to present Qur’an recitation, poetry, art, debates, and more, in front of their families, friends, and community.
As we continued these gatherings for over two years, a few of us came together to take the next step, formalizing this initiative under the name
Siraat Community in 2023. We were blessed to bring on
Ustadh Zaid Khanani as our Religious Director in 2024 to help ground our programming in the Islamic tradition. Since then, we have continued to grow, hosting
classes, youth movie nights and mentorship, weekend intensives,
suhba
socials, gatherings of
dhikr (remembrance), and more--while maintaining the monthly family halaqa that got us started all those years ago.

WHERE WE'RE HEADED
The Siraat Community Campus
In the future, we hope to expand into the Siraat Community Campus: a simple, eco-friendly sanctuary rooted in nature — a place of worship and learning, where children can play freely, families can gather, and hearts can connect with Allah, one another, and Allah's creation.
Free from opulence, it would embody humility, sustainability, and the Prophetic way of building community.
